Hey guys,
Sooo, I’ve been trying to follow some new accounts on Instagram, but for some reason, it’s not letting me?? Like, I keep getting this error or it just doesn’t register when I hit the follow button.
Anyone else facing this issue? I’m lowkey frustrated because I’ve been wondering *why won’t Instagram let me follow people* all day. I’ve tried restarting the app, logging out and back in, even updating it, but nada.
Is this a bug or something? Or did I hit some weird follow limit? I don’t think I’ve followed *that* many people recently, but idk.
Pls lmk if you’ve dealt with this too or if there’s a fix. Thx! 🙏

Hey! I had the same issue last week, and it was so annoying. Turns out, Instagram has a daily follow limit (around 200 follows per day). If you’ve hit that, it’ll stop you from following more people for 24 hours.
Also, check if your account is flagged for suspicious activity. Sometimes, following/unfollowing too quickly can trigger that. Try waiting a day or two and see if it resolves. If not, maybe reach out to Instagram support.

ugh, same problem here! i was wondering why won't instagram let me follow people too. i found out it’s because i was using a third-party app to track followers, and instagram detected it as spammy behavior.
if you’re using any tools like that, maybe stop for a bit and see if it helps. also, clear your app cache or try using instagram on a browser instead of the app. worked for me!

Yo, this happened to me a while back. Instagram has this weird thing where if you follow/unfollow too many accounts in a short time, they’ll temporarily restrict you. It’s like a shadowban kinda thing.

omg i was literally searching "why won't instagram let me follow people" yesterday! i think it’s a bug or something. i tried everything—restarting, updating, even reinstalling the app. nothing worked.
but then i switched to a different wifi network, and it magically started working again. maybe it’s a connection issue? idk, but worth a shot!

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies! I think I might’ve hit the follow limit without realizing it. I’ll wait a day and see if it fixes itself.
Also, I tried switching to a different wifi network like someone suggested, and it kinda worked for a bit, but then the issue came back. Has anyone else had that happen? Should I try using mobile data instead?
And thanks for the tip about third-party apps—I wasn’t using any, but I’ll keep that in mind for the future. Appreciate all the help! 🙏

Hey! So, I had this issue too, and it was super frustrating. I found out that Instagram sometimes restricts new accounts or accounts that follow/unfollow too aggressively. If your account is new, it might take a few days to lift the restrictions.
Also, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. If all else fails, try contacting Instagram support through the app settings. They’re slow, but they might help.

lol same here! i was like why won’t instagram let me follow people?? turns out, i hit the follow limit without even realizing it. instagram’s limits are kinda strict, so if you’ve been following a lot of accounts recently, that’s probably why.
i’d say just wait it out and try again tomorrow. or, if you’re in a rush, try using a different device. sometimes that works for me.

This happened to me too, and it’s so annoying. I think it’s either a bug or you’ve hit the follow limit. Instagram has a limit of 7,500 follows total, so if you’re close to that, it might be why.
Also, if you’re using any automation tools or bots, that could be the issue. Instagram hates those. Try logging in on a desktop and see if it works there. If not, maybe check out this tool: [insert link]. It helped me figure out what was wrong.

then i realized my account was temporarily restricted because i was following/unfollowing too fast. i waited a day, and it was fine after that. maybe just give it some time?
