It’s all about progress, but also profit. The 30-pin was too big, Lightning was better, and now USB-C is just the standard. Still, it’s annoying to keep buying new stuff.
If you’re looking for a fix, maybe try a multi-port charger? They’re great for charging multiple devices at once, and they work with different cables.
