I tried the Chrome > Advanced > System thing and it worked! Used a paid SOCKS proxy from NordVPN and it’s smooth.
Quick Q: How do I know if my proxy is actually hiding my IP? Like, is there a site to check?

OMG, proxy server chrome settings drove me nuts too!
Chrome > Settings > Advanced > System > Open proxy settings. That’s the way.
HTTP is meh, SOCKS is better. Free proxies? No way. Try Smartproxy or Shifter.
First thing to check? Your proxy port. It’s often wrong.
