Hey guys,
Sooo, I’ve been noticing this weird thing on my iPhone lately. Every time I try to check someone’s location, it says "Location Expired." Like, why does it say location expired on iPhone?? Is it just me or is anyone else facing this issue?
I’ve tried restarting my phone, updating the apps, even resetting location settings, but nope, still the same. It’s super annoying, especially when I’m trying to figure out where my friends are.
Is this some new bug or what? Or maybe I’m missing something obvious? Pls help a confused soul out lol.
Also, if anyone knows how to fix this, drop a comment. I’m tired of seeing "Location Expired" every time I open Find My or Messages.

Hey! I had the same issue last week, and it was driving me nuts. Turns out, it’s not just you—this happens when the person you’re trying to locate hasn’t shared their location in a while or their phone is off.
Try asking them to refresh their location sharing in Find My or check if their phone is on. If that doesn’t work, maybe their battery died or they’re in a no-service area.

omg same!! i was so confused why does it say location expired on iPhone?? like, i thought my phone was broken or something.
i found out it’s usually because the other person’s location sharing stopped updating. maybe they turned off share location or their phone died.
try asking them to turn it back on or check their settings. if that doesn’t work, maybe it’s a glitch with ios. apple support has a guide on this, btw.

This is a common issue, and it’s usually not your phone’s fault. The “location expired” message shows up when the other person’s location data isn’t updating.
Could be because their phone is off, they’re in airplane mode, or they stopped sharing their location.
You could also check if both of you are on the latest iOS version. Sometimes updates fix these glitches.

i fixed it by making sure both me and my friend had location services turned on and that we were sharing locations properly. also, check if their phone is charged lol.
if nothing works, maybe try resetting network settings? it’s a pain but it helped me once.

Hey! So, this happens when the other person’s location isn’t updating. It’s not a bug—it’s just how Find My works.
If their phone is off, dead, or they stopped sharing, you’ll see “location expired.”
Try asking them to refresh their location or check their settings. If it keeps happening, maybe contact Apple Support. They’re pretty helpful with stuff like this.

Thanks so much, everyone!! I tried asking my friend to refresh their location, and it worked! Turns out their phone was in low power mode, so it stopped sharing.
I also updated my iOS just in case, and now it’s all good. Still kinda annoying that it doesn’t give a clearer reason for why does it say location expired on iPhone, but at least it’s fixed.

i had this issue too!! it’s so frustrating. why does it say location expired on iPhone??
i fixed it by making sure both phones had location services enabled and that we were both signed into the same apple id for find my.
also, check if their phone is on and connected to the internet. if not, that’s probably why.
