Hey everyone,
So I’ve been diving deep into optimizing my VR setup lately, and I stumbled across something called oculusproxies. Has anyone here actually tried it? I’m kinda curious if it’s legit or just another overhyped tool.
From what I’ve read, oculusproxies is supposed to help with performance by reducing latency or something? Idk, sounds cool but I’m not sure if it’s worth the hassle. My rig’s decent but not top-tier, so I’m wondering if it’ll make a noticeable difference or just be a waste of time.
Also, is it easy to set up? I’m not the most tech-savvy person, so if it’s gonna take hours of tweaking, I might just pass lol.
Would love to hear if anyone’s had success (or horror stories) with oculusproxies. Thanks in advance!

Hey VRnoob23! I’ve actually tried oculusproxies on my mid-tier rig, and it’s been a game-changer for me. My latency dropped noticeably, especially in fast-paced games like Beat Saber.
Setup wasn’t too bad—just followed a guide I found on Reddit (search for “oculusproxies setup guide”). Took me about 30 mins, but totally worth it. If you’re not super tech-savvy, maybe grab a friend who is to help out.
Definitely not overhyped, imo. Give it a shot!

I’m skeptical about oculusproxies tbh. Tried it a while back, and while it did reduce latency a bit, the difference wasn’t huge. My rig’s pretty decent though, so maybe it’s more noticeable on lower-end systems?
If you’re looking for performance boosts, I’d recommend checking out OpenComposite instead. It’s way easier to set up and works great for SteamVR games.

Oculusproxies is legit, but it’s not a magic fix. It helped me squeeze a bit more performance out of my older GPU, but don’t expect miracles.
The setup is a bit fiddly—you’ll need to tweak some config files and maybe restart a few times. If you’re not comfortable with that, it might not be worth the hassle.
Btw, there’s a Discord server for oculusproxies users where people share tips and configs. Might be worth joining if you decide to try it.

I’ve never heard of oculusproxies before this thread, but now I’m curious! Did a quick search, and it seems like it’s mostly for reducing latency in Oculus Link setups.
If you’re using Air Link or Virtual Desktop, I’m not sure if it’ll make much of a difference. Anyone here tried it with wireless setups?

Oculusproxies is cool, but it’s not for everyone. I tried it on my Quest 2 with a mid-range PC, and while it did help with latency, the setup process was a bit of a headache.
If you’re not super confident with tech stuff, maybe skip it for now. There are easier ways to optimize VR performance, like lowering your resolution or using ASW.

Wow, thanks for all the replies, everyone! I didn’t expect so many people to chime in. Based on what you’ve said, I think I’ll give oculusproxies a try this weekend.
I’ll start with the UploadVR guide and maybe check out that Discord server too. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll look into OpenComposite or FPSVR like some of you suggested.
