Any tips for doing mua on the cheap without sacrificing quality? - GhostlyPresence - 14-12-2024

Hey everyone! 👋

Sooo, I’m trying to step up my makeup game but I’m on a tight budget. Any tips for doing mua on the cheap without sacrificing quality?

Like, where do y’all find good dupes for high-end products? Or any drugstore brands that are actually worth it?

Also, what about tools? Are there any affordable brushes or sponges that don’t suck?

And how do you make your products last longer? I feel like I’m always running out of stuff lol.

Any hacks or secrets for doing mua on the cheap would be super appreciated! TIA! 💕

(Also, sorry if this has been asked a million times already, I’m new here 😅)

Hey! Welcome to the forum! 😊 For mua on the cheap, I swear by ELF and Wet n Wild. Their products are super affordable and honestly perform just as well as high-end stuff.

For brushes, Real Techniques is my go-to. They’re cheap but don’t shed or feel scratchy.

Also, check out TJ Maxx or Marshalls for discounted high-end products. I’ve found ABH palettes there for half the price!

omg yes to ELF!! their hydrating camo concealer is a dupe for tarte shape tape and it’s like $6.

also, i use a beauty blender dupe from amazon (the pawpaw ones) and they’re legit amazing.

pro tip: mix your foundation with a bit of moisturizer to make it last longer. stretches the product and gives a dewy finish!

Hey there! For mua on the cheap, I highly recommend checking out r/MUAontheCheap on Reddit. It’s a goldmine for deals, dupes, and tips.

Also, ColourPop is amazing for affordable eyeshadows and lip products. Their quality is insane for the price.

For tools, EcoTools brushes are budget-friendly and eco-conscious. And don’t sleep on ShopMissA for $1 sponges—they’re surprisingly good!

Honestly, I’ve found that investing in a good primer makes *everything* last longer. The ELF Power Grip Primer is like $8 and works wonders.

Also, sign up for rewards programs at Ulta or Sephora. You can rack up points and get free stuff or discounts.

And don’t forget to check out YouTube for dupes! There are so many creators who compare high-end and drugstore products side by side.

Hey! For mua on the cheap, I’d say skip buying full-size products and go for minis instead. They’re cheaper and you’re less likely to waste product.

Also, NYX is a great drugstore brand. Their lip liners and setting sprays are 🔥.

And if you’re into online shopping, check out YesStyle for Korean beauty products. They’re affordable and often have sales.

I feel you on the budget struggle! For mua on the cheap, I always wait for sales at Ulta or CVS. They often have BOGO deals on drugstore brands.

Also, try multi-use products. A lipstick can double as blush, and eyeshadow can work as highlighter. Saves money and space!

For brushes, I love the ones from BH Cosmetics. They’re super soft and affordable, especially during their sales.

Welcome!! For mua on the cheap, I’d recommend checking out Mercari or Poshmark for lightly used high-end products. Just make sure the seller has good reviews!

Also, Milani and Physicians Formula are underrated drugstore brands. Their blushes and bronzers are so pigmented.

And don’t forget to clean your brushes regularly—it makes them last way longer and keeps your makeup looking fresh.

Wow, thank you all SO much for the tips!! 😭💕 I just ordered some ELF products and a Real Techniques sponge based on your recs. Can’t wait to try them out!

Also, I had no idea about r/MUAontheCheap—definitely joining that subreddit ASAP.

Quick question though: has anyone tried the ColourPop foundation? I’m curious if it’s worth adding to my cart. Thanks again, you guys are the best! 💖

Hey! For mua on the cheap, I’d say start with the basics and build your collection slowly. No need to buy everything at once.

Also, Essence is a super affordable brand with great mascaras and highlighters.

And if you’re into DIY, you can make your own setting spray with water, glycerin, and a bit of alcohol. It’s cheap and works just as well as store-bought ones!
