Where Are Scrapy Cookies Stored? A Beginner's Guide to Managing Cookies in Scrapy - ghostLurk77 - 29-10-2024

Hey everyone!

So, I’m kinda new to Scrapy and been messing around with it for a bit. I’ve got this question that’s been bugging me: *where are Scrapy cookies stored*? Like, I know cookies are used for sessions and stuff, but I can’t figure out where Scrapy actually keeps them.

Is it in some file? Or does it just store them in memory? I tried googling but couldn’t find a straight answer. Also, if I wanna manage or save these cookies for later, how do I do that?

Would really appreciate if someone could break it down for me. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Sorry if this is a dumb question, still learning the ropes here lol.

Hey! So, Scrapy cookies are stored in memory by default. They’re tied to the request/response cycle, so once the spider finishes running, they’re gone unless you explicitly save them.

If you wanna save cookies for later, you can use the `cookies` middleware or dump them into a file using Python’s `json` module. Check out the Scrapy docs on middleware for more deets.

Also, if you’re looking for a tool to manage cookies, check out Postman or Burp Suite—super handy for debugging and saving sessions.

Hope that helps!

Yo, I had the same question when I started with Scrapy! So, where are Scrapy cookies stored? They’re in memory during the spider’s runtime. If you wanna save them, you gotta write some custom code.

I usually dump them into a JSON file using `response.request.headers.get('Cookie')` and save it. Works like a charm for reusing sessions later.

Also, check out the `scrapy-cookies` library on GitHub—it’s a lifesaver for managing cookies.

Hey there! Scrapy cookies are stored in memory by default, so they disappear after the spider stops. If you wanna save them, you can use the `cookies` parameter in your requests or write them to a file.

I’d recommend using the `json` module to save them as a file. Here’s a quick snippet:

```python
import json
cookies = response.request.headers.get('Cookie')
with open('cookies.json', 'w') as f:
json.dump(cookies, f)
```

This way, you can load them back later. Hope this clears things up!

Scrapy cookies are stored in memory, so they’re temporary. If you wanna save them, you’ll need to handle it manually.

I usually use the `scrapy.Request` object’s `cookies` parameter to manage them. You can also check out the `scrapy-cookies` extension—it’s super helpful for persistent cookie storage.

For debugging, I’d recommend using tools like Fiddler or Charles Proxy to inspect cookies during requests.

Also, if you’re into debugging, check out the `scrapy-shell`—it’s great for testing cookie handling.

Scrapy cookies are stored in memory, so they’re not persistent. If you wanna save them, you’ll need to write some code.

I usually use the `cookies` parameter in `scrapy.Request` to handle them. You can also save them to a file using `json` or `pickle`.

For more advanced cookie management, check out the `scrapy-cookies` library. It’s a game-changer!

Wow, thanks so much for all the replies! I didn’t expect so many helpful tips. So, Scrapy cookies are stored in memory by default, and I need to save them manually if I wanna reuse them later. Got it!

I tried the `json` method, and it worked like a charm. Also, thanks for recommending the `scrapy-cookies` library—I’ll definitely check that out.

One quick follow-up: if I’m using multiple spiders, can I share cookies between them? Or do I need to save and load them separately for each spider?

Thanks again, y’all are awesome!
