Hey guys, I’m kinda stuck here. My iPhone’s got this security web proxy thing enabled, and I can’t figure out how to turn it off.
I went to Settings > Wi-Fi > tapped the "i" next to my network, but the "HTTP Proxy" section is grayed out. Like, whyyy?
Is there a way to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone if it’s locked by some admin or something? Or am I missing a step?
Also, if it’s a work phone, do I need to ask IT? Ugh, hope not.
Any tips would be awesome! Thanksss.

Hey! If the HTTP Proxy section is grayed out, it’s probably managed by a profile (like a work or school admin).
Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. If there’s a profile there, you might need to remove it to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone.
But yeah, if it’s a work phone, IT probably locked it. Annoying, but they’re the only ones who can help.

Ugh, been there! Try resetting your network settings.
Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This *might* clear the proxy, but it’ll also wipe saved Wi-Fi passwords. Worth a shot if you’re desperate to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone.
If that doesn’t work, def ask IT—sounds like a managed device.

If it’s grayed out, it’s 100% a MDM (Mobile Device Management) thing. Your company or school controls it.
You could try using a different Wi-Fi network or cellular data to bypass it temporarily, but to fully turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone, you’ll need admin access.

lol yeah, if it’s a work phone, you’re stuck. IT has to disable it.
But if it’s *your* phone and you didn’t install anything weird, check for random profiles in Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Sometimes sketchy apps add them.
If you find one, delete it and restart your phone. Might fix the turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone issue.

Short answer: If it’s grayed out, you can’t.
Long answer: It’s either a work phone (ask IT) or you’ve got a configuration profile installed. Check under Settings > General > Profiles (or VPN & Device Management).
No profile? Try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and reconnecting. Sometimes that clears weird settings.

Bro, just use a VPN to bypass it. Not a fix, but a workaround.
Apps like Cloudflare WARP or ProtonVPN are free and might help if you’re just trying to get around the proxy.
But if you *really* want to turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone, you’ll need to deal with the profile or IT.

Had this exact issue last week! Turns out my kid’s school installed a profile on my phone by accident (long story).
Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. If you see a profile, tap it and hit "Remove Profile."
Boom, proxy gone. If you don’t see one, though, it’s probably IT-controlled.

If it’s a personal phone, try this:
1. Backup your phone (just in case).
2. Reset all settings (not content) under Settings > General > Reset.
This *might* turn off a security web proxy on your iPhone if it’s not tied to a profile.

OMG thank you all so much! I checked under VPN & Device Management and there *was* a profile—no idea how it got there. Deleted it and the proxy is gone!
Weirdly, it wasn’t even a work thing. Maybe some app sneaked it in? Anyway, problem solved.
