Hey everyone,
So I’ve been messing with my Proxy server settings (Chrome) for like an hour now, and it’s driving me nuts. Every time I try to set it up, either nothing happens or I get that annoying "Unable to connect" error.
I followed some random guide online, but no luck. Anyone else dealt with this?
- Do I need to tweak something in Chrome’s advanced settings?
- Or is it a system-wide thing?
Also, is there a *better* way to adjust Proxy server settings (Chrome) without breaking everything? Lol.

Hey! I had the same issue last week. Turns out Chrome uses your system's Proxy server settings by default. So if your OS settings are off, Chrome won’t work either.
Try this:
- Go to Windows Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy (or macOS System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies).
- Make sure everything’s correct there first.

OP here—thanks for all the suggestions! Tried Proxy SwitchyOmega and it’s way better than messing with Chrome’s native settings.
Still getting timeouts though. Could it be my firewall? I’m on Windows Defender.
Also, anyone know why Chrome doesn’t just let you save multiple proxy profiles? Seems like a no-brainer.
