Title: how do I setup a proxy properly? Help a beginner out!

Hey guys, total noob here. I keep hearing about proxies for privacy and stuff, but no clue how to set one up.

Like, how do I setup a proxy without messing things up? I’m on Windows btw, but Mac tips welcome too!

If anyone’s got a simple step-by-step, that’d be awesome. Also, does it slow down my internet? Cuz that’d suck lol.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hey! If you're wondering how do I setup a proxy on Windows, it's actually pretty simple.
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy. From there, you can manually enter the proxy details.

For a beginner, I'd recommend using a free proxy like Hide.me or ProtonVPN (they have free tiers).

Yes, it *can* slow things down a bit, but not always. Depends on the proxy server location.

yo, proxies are cool but if u want privacy, a VPN might be better. Still, if u wanna know how do I setup a proxy, check out CCProxy or Squid for Windows.

Mac users can do it in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies.

And yeah, free proxies often suck speed-wise. Try paid ones if u can afford it.

For a noob-friendly guide on how do I setup a proxy, this vid helped me: [YouTube link].

Also, if you're on Windows, FoxyProxy (a browser extension) makes it super easy. No deep settings tweaking needed.

Phones? Yep, Android and iOS both support proxies in Wi-Fi settings. Just google "[your phone model] + proxy setup."

Proxies *can* slow your net, but not always. If you're learning how do I setup a proxy, start with a lightweight one like Psiphon.

Windows: Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings. Tick "Use a proxy server" and enter the deets.

Mac folks, same idea but in Network settings.

Free proxies = risky tho. Some log your data. Be careful!

If you're asking how do I setup a proxy properly, avoid random free ones—sketchy af.

Try Windscribe (free 10GB/month) or setup a SOCKS5 proxy if you're techy.

Speed loss? Yeah, sometimes. But privacy > slight lag, imo.

lol i was in ur shoes last month. how do I setup a proxy? Easiest way is just use a browser extension like Hola or Browsec.

But if u want system-wide, Windows: Settings > Network > Proxy. Mac: System Prefs > Network > Advanced.

Fair warning—free proxies often suck. Paid ones like Nord or PIA are way better.

Thanks for all the tips, guys! I tried FoxyProxy and it worked like a charm.

Quick q tho—how do I setup a proxy that doesn’t leak my IP? Saw some scary stuff about leaks online.

Also, anyone know if proxies work with gaming? Or is that a bad idea?

Appreciate the help! 🙌
