Are Datacenter Proxies Still the Best Choice for High-Speed Web Scraping? or How Reliable Are Datacen - stealthByte77 - 13-01-2025

"Are Datacenter Proxies Still the Best Choice for High-Speed Web Scraping?"

Hey everyone, been using datacenter proxies for scraping for a while now, and I’m kinda torn. They’re *fast* af, no doubt, but lately, I’ve been hitting more blocks and CAPTCHAs than usual.

Are they still the go-to for speed, or are residential proxies catching up? I know datacenter proxies are cheaper and easier to scale, but if sites are cracking down harder, is it even worth it?

Also, anyone else notice some sites straight-up blacklist datacenter IP ranges now? Feels like the game’s changing.

Would love to hear your experiences—still rocking datacenter proxies or switching it up?

(Also, sorry for any typos, typing this on mobile lol)

Datacenter proxies are still solid for speed, no question. But yeah, sites are getting smarter. I’ve switched to rotating datacenter proxies with a service like Luminati or Smartproxy—helps avoid blocks.

Residential proxies are slower and pricier, but if you’re hitting CAPTCHAs nonstop, might be worth mixing both. Also, try adding random delays between requests.

Sites blacklisting IP ranges? Yep, it’s a thing. Some providers offer fresh IP pools, so maybe check if yours is outdated.

Honestly, datacenter proxies are a ticking time bomb for scraping. Too many sites detect them now. I moved to residential and never looked back.

Speed difference isn’t *that* bad if you pick a good provider. Oxylabs has decent residential speeds, but yeah, it’s $$$.

If you’re stuck with datacenter, try rotating user-agents and headers. Sometimes that’s enough to fly under the radar.

Datacenter proxies = speed, residential = stealth. Depends what you’re scraping.

For public data, datacenter is fine. For anything login-walled or anti-bot, good luck.

Tool rec: ScraperAPI handles proxy rotation and CAPTCHAs for you. Saves a ton of headache.

lol datacenter proxies are like using a sledgehammer for scraping—fast but obvious. Sites *hate* them now.

I’ve had better luck with ISP proxies. They’re kinda in-between—faster than residential but less likely to get blocked.

Also, check your request headers. Half the time, blocks are from bad headers, not the IP itself.

Still using datacenter proxies here, but only for low-risk scraping. For anything serious, I blend in residential IPs.

Pro tip: Use a tool like Bright Data’s proxy manager. Automates switching between proxy types based on the site’s resistance.

And yeah, some sites straight-up block entire ASNs. Annoying af.

Datacenter proxies work if you’re smart about it. Rotate IPs frequently, keep sessions short, and avoid aggressive scraping.

But if you’re hitting walls, try adding a VPN layer. Sounds extra, but it helps sometimes.

Also, anyone tried SOAX? Their proxy pool is pretty fresh, fewer blocks for me.

Residential proxies are overhyped unless you’re scraping Amazon or something brutal.

Datacenter proxies + good throttling = still king for most tasks. Just don’t be greedy with requests.

Tool suggestion: Puppeteer with stealth plugins. Makes your scraper look more human.

OP here—thanks for all the insights! Didn’t realize how much headers and rotation mattered. Gonna test ScraperAPI and SOAX this week.

Quick follow-up: Anyone using backconnect proxies with datacenter IPs? Wondering if that’s better for avoiding blocks.

Also, yeah, my headers were a mess. Fixed those and already seeing fewer CAPTCHAs. Appreciate the tips!
