"Can someone explain the curl meaning in simple terms?"

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the curl meaning in vector calculus, but it’s just not clicking. Like, I get that it’s about rotation or something, but how?

Is it like measuring how much a vector field "twists" or "spins" at a point? And why’s it called *curl* anyway?
