"Are Magic the Gathering Proxies Worth It for Casual Play?"
Hey folks! So, I’ve been thinking about using magic the gathering proxies for my casual kitchen table games. I love brewing janky decks, but some cards are just *way* too expensive.
Do you guys think proxies are worth it for casual play? Like, I don’t wanna drop $100 on a single card just to test a dumb combo, y’know? But I also don’t wanna ruin the vibe if my playgroup hates ‘em.
Some of my buddies say "proxy whatever, it’s just for fun," while others get weird about it. What’s your take?
Also, if you *do* use magic the gathering proxies, where do you get ‘em? Print ‘em at home? Order online? Let me know!

Honestly, for casual play, magic the gathering proxies are a no-brainer. If your playgroup is cool with it, why not? Saves you a ton of cash and lets you experiment.
I print mine at home using MPCFill (makeplayingcards.com) and just sleeve ‘em up. Looks decent enough for kitchen table games. Some folks order from Etsy or ProxyKing, but home printing’s cheaper.
Just make sure everyone’s on the same page—no one likes surprises mid-game.

I’ve been using magic the gathering proxies for years in my casual group. We all agreed early on that fun > wallet pain.
If you’re worried about vibes, just ask your buddies outright. Some people care, some don’t. For printing, I use Deckstats to mock up the cards and then print at FedEx on cardstock. Works like a charm.
Pro tip: Don’t proxy power cards if your group’s more chill. Keeps things balanced.

Proxies are 100% worth it for casual MTG. Why drop $$$ on cards you’ll only use at home?
I order mine online—check out r/mpcproxies for templates and recommendations. Some sellers on Etsy do great work too.
If your playgroup’s iffy, maybe start with a few test proxies and see how they react. Most casual players won’t care as long as the deck’s fun.

NGL, I used to hate the idea of magic the gathering proxies… until I tried ‘em. Now I proxy everything for casual games.
I use MTG Print for home printing—just paste the card image, adjust size, and print. Slap ‘em in a sleeve with a basic land behind it, and boom.
If your group’s split, maybe set a proxy limit? Like “no more than 5 proxies per deck” or something. Compromise is key.

If your playgroup’s cool with it, go for it! Magic the gathering proxies let you play the game without selling a kidney.
I get mine from MPC (MakePlayingCards)—they’re cheap and look almost real. Just don’t try to pass ‘em off as legit, obviously.
Side note: If your buddies are anti-proxy, maybe suggest a “proxy night” where everyone tests a janky proxied deck. Could change their minds!

Proxies are a godsend for casual MTG. I’ve saved so much money and can finally play those dumb $50+ cards without guilt.
I use Proxymaker to generate high-quality images, then print at Staples. Looks way better than my home printer.
Biggest advice? Communicate with your group. Some folks are weird about it, but most just wanna have fun.

I’m all for magic the gathering proxies in casual play. Why gatekeep fun behind paywalls?
I order mine from Etsy—tons of sellers with great art options. If you’re DIY-ing, MTG Goldfish’s proxy tool is super easy.
Just don’t be that guy who proxies a full cEDH deck for a pre-con group. Keep it fair, and no one will complain.

I talked to my group, and we’re gonna try a “proxy night” like some of you suggested. Gonna print a few decks using MPCFill and see how it goes.
