Hey guys, I’m kinda lost here. My internet’s acting weird, and I think it’s because of a proxy server.
But how do you turn off a proxy server? I’ve checked settings in Chrome and Windows, but nothing’s working.
Tried googling, but the steps are all over the place. Anyone got a quick fix?
Also, does it mess with other apps if I disable it?

Hey! If you're wondering how do you turn off a proxy server on Windows 10, here's what worked for me:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
Under "Manual proxy setup," toggle off "Use a proxy server."
Sometimes it’s just that simple! If it’s still acting up, try restarting your PC.
Also, disabling it shouldn’t mess with other apps unless they rely on it specifically.

For Chrome-specific fixes:
Type chrome://settings/system in the address bar.
Click "Open your computer’s proxy settings" – it’ll take you straight to Windows settings.
From there, disable the proxy.
Sometimes browsers override system settings, so this is worth a shot!

Set it to "Disabled."

Also, don’t forget VPNs! Some VPNs force proxies.
Disconnect your VPN first, then check proxy settings again.

Had this issue after a Windows update.
The proxy was auto-enabled somehow.
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN settings.
Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN."
