I checked the Internet Options, but it’s all confusing. Like, is it under LAN settings or somewhere else? And every guide I find is either too technical or outdated.

Hey! I had the same issue last week. To disable proxy on Windows 10, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
Under "Manual proxy setup," just toggle off "Use a proxy server." That’s it!
No, it won’t break anything unless your work/school requires a proxy. If stuff gets weird after, just toggle it back on.

Yo, disabling proxy is easy peasy. Just open Chrome (or whatever browser), go to Settings > System > Open proxy settings.
From there, turn off the proxy slider.
