"Hey guys, quick question – do security keys needed for facebook expire?
I’ve been using a Yubikey for my FB account, and it’s been working fine. But I just realized I’ve had it for like 3 years now??
Does FB make you replace these things after a while, or are they good forever? I don’t wanna wake up one day locked out because my key "expired" or something lol.
Also, if they *do* expire, how long do they usually last? Couldn’t find a clear answer in FB’s help stuff.

Nah, security keys like Yubikeys don’t expire for Facebook. They’re hardware-based, so unless the key itself breaks or FB changes their system (which they haven’t), you’re good.
But if you’re paranoid, just check FB’s security settings occasionally. They’d notify you if anything changes.
Also, backup keys are a lifesaver—get a spare if you haven’t already!

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Still no.
Your Yubikey will work until it physically can’t. FB doesn’t have an expiration policy for hardware keys.
But if you’re nervous, grab a backup key ($20-$50). Peace of mind >>>

Mine’s going on 5 years strong. Just keep it clean (pocket lint can mess with the USB connection).
FB’s help docs are trash, but Yubico’s forum has good info if you dig.

FB would’ve made a huge deal if they started expiring keys. It’d break so many accounts.
Pro tip: Register a second key if you haven’t. Losing your only key is a nightmare.

My friend’s Yubikey stopped working after 6 years of daily use. FB didn’t care—just got a new one.
