hey guys, so i’ve been using a VPN for a while now, but i’m lowkey paranoid about an ip leak. like, what if one of my browser extensions is messing things up?
i did a quick test on one of those ip leak checker sites, and everything *seemed* fine, but idk if i can fully trust it. some extensions (looking at you, free proxy tools) might bypass the VPN without me realizing.
anyone else dealt with this? how do you make sure your VPN is actually doing its job?
also, are there better ways to test for an ip leak? or am i just overthinking it? 😅

yeah, extensions can totally mess with your VPN! some of them, especially free proxies or ad blockers, might bypass the VPN connection.
i’d recommend checking for ip leaks using multiple sites like ipleak.net or dnsleaktest.com.
also, disable extensions one by one and re-test. if your real ip shows up, you’ve found the culprit.

If you’re paranoid, just use a browser with no extensions at all for sensitive stuff.

Honestly, just ditch sketchy extensions. Stick to trusted ones like HTTPS Everywhere.
For testing, use ipleak.net AND dnsleaktest.com. If both show your VPN IP, you’re probably good.

WebRTC is the silent killer here. Some extensions enable it without you knowing.
Go to browserleaks.com/webrtc and see if your real IP is exposed. If it is, disable WebRTC in your browser settings.
