So I was chillin’ with my VPN on, thinking I was invisible… until I ran a webrtc leak test. Turns out, my real IP was still showing?!
If you haven’t checked, you might wanna test it out. Some VPNs don’t block webrtc leaks by default, which is kinda wild.
Quick ways to test:
- Use sites like ipleak.net or browserleaks.com
- Disable webrtc in your browser if it’s leaking (Firefox makes this easy)
- Or just Google ‘webrtc leak test’ and pick a tool

Yo, same thing happened to me last week! I was using a popular VPN and my real IP was exposed in the webrtc leak test.
I fixed it by disabling WebRTC in Firefox (go to about:config and toggle "media.peerconnection.enabled" to false).
Also, NordVPN has a built-in WebRTC leak blocker—switched to them and no more leaks. Definitely worth checking out if your current VPN fails the test.

WebRTC leaks are sneaky af. Most VPNs don’t block them by default because it’s a browser thing, not a VPN issue.
I use uBlock Origin with the "WebRTC leak prevention" option enabled. Works like a charm.
For testing, ipleak.net is my go-to. If your VPN can’t handle WebRTC, maybe time to ditch it lol.

Had no idea about this until now. Just ran a webrtc leak test on browserleaks.com and yikes… my IP was visible.
Turns out Chrome doesn’t let you disable WebRTC easily, but there’s an extension called "WebRTC Leak Prevent" that fixes it.

WebRTC leaks are the worst. I spent hours figuring this out.
Pro tip: If you’re on Windows, you can also block WebRTC at the firewall level. Just block UDP ports 3478-3481.
Or, use a browser like Brave—it disables WebRTC by default. No leaks, no hassle.

Lol, this is why I stick to Mullvad VPN. They actually care about WebRTC leaks and have solid docs on how to block them.
For testing, I use both ipleak.net and dnsleaktest.com to be extra sure.
If your VPN fails, don’t just disable WebRTC—get a better VPN. Privacy matters.

Tried disabling WebRTC in Firefox like some of you suggested, and it worked—no more leaks on ipleak.net.
Still kinda shocked my VPN didn’t handle this by default though. Might check out NordVPN or Mullvad based on your recs.
Anyone know if this affects mobile browsers too? Gotta test that next.

Yep, WebRTC leaks are a thing. I use a combo of VPN + Firefox with WebRTC disabled.
Also, check out "Disable WebRTC" extension for Chrome if you’re stuck with it.
For testing, browserleaks.com is super straightforward.

Ran a webrtc leak test and my VPN (ExpressVPN) actually passed. But I still disabled WebRTC in Firefox just to be safe.
OP, you might wanna give ExpressVPN a shot if yours is failing.
