Best Practices for Using Proxy with Scrapy: How to Avoid Getting Blocked?

Wow, thanks everyone for the awesome tips! 🙌 I’ve been experimenting with rotating proxies every 10 requests and setting a random delay between 2-5 seconds, and it’s been working way better.

I also checked out Bright Data and Smartproxy—both look solid, but I think I’ll go with Smartproxy for now since it’s more budget-friendly.

One quick follow-up: anyone have experience with handling CAPTCHAs while using proxy with scrapy? I’ve been running into them more often lately, and it’s slowing me down. Any tools or tricks you’d recommend?

Using proxy with scrapy is like trying to outsmart a security guard. 😂

I’d say rotate proxies every 5 requests and set a delay of at least 3 seconds. Also, use a mix of residential and datacenter proxies.

For tools, check out Scrapy-rotating-proxy or Scrapy-proxy-pool. They’ve saved me a ton of headaches.
