How Do You Rename Your Mac?

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to figure out how do you rename your mac, but I’m not sure where to start. I want to change the name that shows up on my network and in Finder, but I can’t seem to find the right settings.

Is it something I can do in System Preferences?

If anyone has a step-by-step guide or tips on how do you rename your mac, I’d really appreciate your help!

Thanks a lot! 😊
I also found that after changing the name, it took a little while for the new name to show up in Finder and on the network, so be patient if it doesn’t update immediately.
Just go to System Preferences > Sharing, and at the top, you’ll see a field to change your computer name. It’s that easy!
If you’re connected to a network, remember to restart your Mac after the change just to make sure everything syncs up properly.
Hey everyone!

I just went through the process of renaming my Mac, and it’s pretty simple! You can definitely do it through System Preferences.
I had a similar question last week, and following the steps from here worked like a charm. Just make sure you’re using an admin account to make the changes.
Thanks for all the help, everyone! I’ll give it a try later today and let you know how it goes. If I run into any issues, I might come back for more tips!
