"WebRTC Chechk Failing? Common Issues & Fixes"
Hey folks!
So I ran a webtrtc chechk (*yeah, I always typo that*) and it’s showing leaks?? WTF?
Tried disabling it in browser settings, but still getting weird IP stuff. Anyone else?
Common probs I found:
- Browser extensions messing with it
- VPN not fully blocking WebRTC
- Old browser version = bad config
Quick fixes:
1. Test on ipleak.net (or similar)
2. Disable WebRTC in Firefox/chrome flags
3. Try a *proper* VPN with WebRTC blocking
Or am I missing something? Share your hacks pls!
P.S. Why is "webtrtc chechk" so hard to spell lol.
Yo, same issue here! My webtrtc chechk kept showing leaks even after disabling it in Chrome. Turns out, some sketchy extensions were still running in the background.
Try this:
- Go to chrome://extensions/ and disable ALL of them temporarily.
- Retest on ipleak.net.
If it works, enable them one by one to find the culprit. For me, it was a "free proxy" extension lol.
Also, check out browserleaks.com/webrtc for a deeper scan.
Lol @ "webtrtc chechk" – relatable.
Anyway, Firefox is worse for leaks imo. Even with the setting off, it sometimes still bleeds. Switched to Brave browser, and their built-in WebRTC blocking actually works.
If you’re stuck on Chrome/FF, try this extension: WebRTC Leak Prevent. It forces the setting to stay off.
Bro, VPNs are hit or miss with this. Most claim they block WebRTC but don’t. NordVPN and ProtonVPN are solid tho—they have actual kill switches for it.
Also, old browsers = leak city. Update or perish.
Quick test: restart browser after disabling WebRTC. Sometimes it’s just cached crap.
Ugh, webtrtc chechk drama never ends. Here’s my fix:
1. Firefox: Go to about:config, set "media.peerconnection.enabled" to false.
2. Chrome: Install "uBlock Origin" and enable WebRTC blocking in its settings.
If you’re still leaking, your VPN might be trash. Test with ipleak.org (better than ipleak.net imo).
Wait, why disable WebRTC tho? It’s useful for stuff like video calls.
If you just wanna test leaks, use Tor Browser. It nukes WebRTC by default.
But yeah, if you’re paranoid, disable it everywhere. Just know some sites will break.
Pro tip: Your "webtrtc chechk" might be lying. Some test sites are outdated.
Try multiple:
- ipleak.net
- browserleaks.com/webrtc
- doileak.com
If all show leaks, then panic. Otherwise, it’s probably a false positive.
OP here—thanks for all the tips! Tried the Firefox about:config trick and uBlock Origin. Leaks are gone (for now).
But now Discord’s voice chat is broken. Anyone know how to whitelist WebRTC for just one site?
Also, Brave browser worked like a charm. Might switch permanently.
P.S. Still can’t spell "webtrtc chechk" right. Send help.
For Chrome users: Type chrome://flags/#disable-webrtc in the address bar and disable it there. Restart the browser.
Still leaking? Your ISP might be exposing you. Try a different network (mobile hotspot?) and test again.
"webtrtc chechk" is cursed, but so is WebRTC itself.
If you’re on Windows, check your firewall rules. Sometimes browsers bypass VPNs at the OS level.
Tools like GlassWire can show if your browser is sneaking connections.
