I feel your pain! mac chrome protical has been super glitchy for me as well.
One thing that worked for me was switching to the Chrome Beta version. It’s more stable for some reason. You can download it from the Chrome Beta website.
Also, make sure your macOS is updated. Sometimes the system updates fix compatibility issues with Chrome.
