Honestly, socksdroid is hit or miss for me too. The setup was a pain, but once I got it working, it’s been decent.
For the disconnects, I found that using a static IP instead of DHCP on my Wi-Fi helped a lot. Also, try lowering the MTU size in your network settings—it’s a weird fix, but it worked for me.
