Tsubame Onsen is my happy place! I always stay at Ryokan Yamatoya. It’s not the fanciest, but it’s affordable and has a great atmosphere.
For baths, try the public ones early in the morning or late at night. Way fewer people.
Food-wise, there’s a little tempura spot near the station that’s amazing. Can’t remember the name, but it’s got a red sign.
