Why Use a Proxy if Firewall is Better? Understanding the Key Differences and Use Cases

Hey everyone,

So, I’ve been wondering—why use a proxy if firewall is better? I mean, firewalls are like the ultimate gatekeepers, right? They block unwanted traffic, monitor stuff, and keep things secure. But then I hear people talking about proxies like they’re still super important.

Is it just me or does it feel like they serve different purposes? Like, a proxy seems more about hiding your IP or accessing geo-blocked content, while a firewall is all about security.

But idk, maybe I’m missing something. Why use a proxy if firewall is better at protecting your network? Or are they meant to work together?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Cheers,
Alex
