I feel you! jdownloader chrome has been glitchy for me as well. I started using “Free Download Manager” (FDM) as a backup, and it’s been solid.
It’s free, lightweight, and has a Chrome extension that works well. Might be worth checking out if jdownloader keeps giving you trouble.
