If you’re worried about messing up the embedded scripts while trying to change pdf format which has javascript, you could try printing the PDF to a new PDF.
On Windows, you can use the “Microsoft Print to PDF” feature. It usually removes scripts and keeps the content intact. Not sure about Mac, but there should be something similar.
