So, I was just wondering... *what is hostname?* Like, I keep hearing this term, but I’m not entirely sure what it means. Is it just the name of a computer or something more?
From what I’ve gathered, a hostname is basically the label given to a device on a network. It’s like your computer’s nickname so other devices can find it. For example, if you’re setting up a home network, your laptop might have a hostname like “MyLaptop” or something.
But idk, I could be totally off lol. Anyone else wanna chime in? Maybe explain it in simpler terms or correct me if I’m wrong?
Also, does it matter what you name it? Like, can I just call it “PizzaLover69” or is there a rule? 😂
