Honestly, I think you’re spot on with the README file idea. I’ve been doing that for a while, and it’s a game-changer.
Another thing I’d add is to use Notion or Confluence to document the crawl settings.
You can link the .ssconfig file directly in the doc and add notes about why certain settings were chosen.
It’s a bit more work upfront, but it makes onboarding new team members way easier.
