Ugh, I feel you! Getting instagram unrestricted on google chromebook is such a headache. Have you tried using the Instagram desktop site with Chrome DevTools?
Open Instagram in Chrome, right-click, and select "Inspect." Then, click the "Toggle Device Toolbar" icon (looks like a phone/tablet). Set it to a mobile view, and refresh the page. It sometimes unlocks features that are usually mobile-only. It’s a bit technical, but worth a shot!
