Sail is def just a colorway thing! It’s like a creamy off-white, kinda like the color of old sails on boats (hence the name lol).
I think brands use it ‘cause it’s versatile and goes with everything. As for durability, my sail shoes have held up pretty well, but I’m careful not to wear them in muddy areas.
If you’re worried about dirt, maybe try a protective spray? Crep Protect is a good option.
