Can Someone Explain How a Proxy Chain Works and Why It’s Useful?

Hey everyone,
So I’ve been hearing about this thing called a proxy chain lately, and I’m kinda confused. Like, how does it even work? From what I gather, it’s a bunch of proxies linked together, but why would someone use that instead of just one proxy?

Also, is it really more secure or just overkill? I mean, does it actually hide your IP better or just slow things down? And what’s the deal with setting it up? Is it a pain or nah?

Lastly, when would you even *need* a proxy chain? Like, is it just for super secret spy stuff or can it be useful for regular browsing too?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I’m just tryna wrap my head around it. Thanks in advance!
