Man, I feel you. It’s such a pain finding a good pirate bay prox. I’ve been using piratebayproxy.co, and it’s been pretty stable for me. No major issues so far.
As for avoiding sketchy ones, I’d say always use a VPN and maybe even an ad blocker. Some of those sites are just loaded with malware.
