Wow, thanks for all the replies, guys! This really helped clear things up. So, Instagram determines the IP address based on the internet connection, not the device itself. Got it.
I tried switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and yeah, my IP changed each time. Also, tested with a VPN, and Instagram showed the VPN’s IP.
One follow-up though—does Instagram store these IPs long-term? Like, could they track my activity across different IPs? Just curious.
