I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the whole socks4 proxy meaning thing, but I’m still a bit confused. From what I gather, a socks4 proxy is like a middleman that helps route your internet traffic, but it’s kinda simpler than other proxies. It doesn’t mess with your data or anything, just passes it along.
How’s it different from, say, socks5 or HTTP proxies? I heard socks4 doesn’t support authentication or IPv6, which socks5 does. Also, it’s kinda old-school, right? Like, it’s been around for ages.
If anyone can break it down in plain terms or share some real-world examples, that’d be awesome. I’m just tryna figure out if it’s worth using or if I should stick to something more modern.
