Can someone explain the HTTP proxy meaning and how it works in simple terms?

Hey everyone,
So I’ve been hearing a lot about this "HTTP proxy meaning" thing, but I’m kinda lost. Like, what even is it? From what I *think* I understand, it’s like a middleman between your computer and the internet, right?

Like, you send a request to a website, but instead of going straight there, it goes through the proxy first. The proxy then grabs the data for you and sends it back. Is that how it works?

Also, why would someone even use it? Is it for privacy or something? Or maybe to access stuff that’s blocked in your area? Idk, I’m just trying to wrap my head around the whole HTTP proxy meaning thing.

If anyone can break it down in simple terms, that’d be awesome! Thanks in advance Smile
