Yo, I feel you on the broke part lol. Pokémon proxies are def a good option if you’re just starting out. Most players don’t care as long as you’re not being shady about it.
Reliability-wise, they’re pretty much the same as real cards if you get them from a decent printer. I’ve used a few from Proxy Nexus, and they’ve been flawless. Just don’t try to use them in official tournaments, or you’ll get the boot real quick.
As for the community, it really depends on where you play. Some people can be a bit salty, but most are just happy to have someone to play against.
