Hey, I’ve been through this! You absolutely need a VPN. I used ExpressVPN, and it worked like a charm. Just connect to a server outside China, and you should be good to go.
One thing to note: sometimes the verification email takes a while to come through, so be patient. After setup, it’s pretty seamless as long as your VPN is active.
