yo thanks for all the replies! i think i’ll keep iOS12 shadowrocket for now and try out some of the vpns you guys suggested.
i’m gonna test nordvpn and expressvpn first since a few of you mentioned them. if they work better with newer apps, i might finally update my phone lol.
