Yeah, Xfinity does charge extra for a xfinity static ip address, but only for business plans. Residential customers usually get dynamic IPs.
I looked into it last year, and the rep straight-up told me it’s not an option unless you switch to business. Sucks, but that’s how it is.
If you need a static IP for your home server, check out Dynamic DNS services like No-IP or DynDNS. They’re way cheaper (some even free) and work with your dynamic IP.
