So, I keep hearing about proxy servers, but I’m kinda lost. Like, *what is a proxy server address* exactly? Is it just some fancy IP thingy, or does it actually do something useful?

From what I’ve gathered, it’s like a middleman between my device and the internet? But how does that even work? And why would I need one—privacy, bypassing restrictions, or something else?

Also, if I *do* need one, how do I even set it up? Any dumbed-down explanations or real-world examples would be awesome.
