Subject: Newbie question: What is a web proxy, exactly?
Hey everyone,
So I keep hearing about web proxies, but I’m not entirely sure what they do. Like, what is a web proxy, and how does it even work?
From what I gather, it’s kinda like a middleman between you and the internet? It hides your IP or something? But why would someone need one—privacy, bypassing restrictions, or just testing stuff?
Also, are they safe to use? I’ve seen free ones, but idk if they’re sketchy or not.
Would love a simple breakdown if anyone’s got the time. Thanks in advance!
(And sorry if this is a dumb question—still learning!)
Cheers!
