Thanks for all the replies, guys! Sounds like public proxy servers for privacy are more trouble than they’re worth.

I’ll probably go with a VPN like some of you suggested—leaning towards ProtonVPN since it keeps coming up.

Still curious though: anyone here actually had a *good* experience with a free proxy? Or is it universally a bad idea?
