OMG, you guys are lifesavers! Tried `e.preventDefault()` and it worked like magic.

Still getting a slight flicker though—any idea why? Maybe the DOM updates are slow?

Also, someone mentioned `fetch()`—gonna try that next. Thanks for the tips!
