Subject: Newbie question: What does an IP look like in simple terms?
Hey everyone,
So, I’ve been hearing a lot about IPs but still kinda confused—what does an IP look like exactly? Like, is it just random numbers or is there a specific format?
From what I gather, it’s usually something like *192.168.1.1* (lol, that’s the one my router uses). But I’ve also seen longer ones with letters, like *2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e:0370:7334*.
Are there different types? And why do some look so different?
Sorry if this is super basic, but I’d love a simple breakdown. Thanks in advance!
