Can someone explain what does an IP look like? or What does an IP look like and how is it formatted?

Think of an IP like a mailing address but for data. IPv4 is the old-school format (*192.0.2.1*), while IPv6 (*2001:db8::1234*) is the new hotness.

Fun experiment: Open Command Prompt and type `ipconfig` (Windows) or `ifconfig` (Mac/Linux) to see your local IPs.

Also, [whois](https://whois.icann.org) can tell you who owns an IP—creepy but cool!
