IP blocking works *if* you’re dealing with low-effort attacks. But serious DDoS? Nah. They’ll just spin up new IPs faster than you can block ‘em.

For spam, I’ve had decent luck with tools like Akismet (for WordPress) or OSSEC for server-level stuff. But again, it’s not foolproof.

Honestly, the best defense is a mix of ip blocking, rate limiting, and something like Cloudflare’s DDoS protection. Alone, it’s kinda useless.
