I went with a throwaway email and a random username (shoutout to the keyboard mash method). Turned off all the creepy settings too—already got less spam than other platforms.
Tried the app first, and it’s way less intimidating than the website. Joined a couple small subs like r/CasualConversation to dip my toes in.
One follow-up: How do you deal with downvotes? Got hit with a few just for asking a question in a sub, and it lowkey hurt lol. Is that normal?
(Also, old.reddit.com is a game-changer. Why’s it so much better??)
