I’m still using Waterfox YouTube, and it’s fine for my needs. The ad-blocking works, and it’s lighter than Chrome.

But yeah, the updates are slow. If you’re tech-savvy, you can manually patch stuff, but most folks won’t wanna bother.

For a middle ground, maybe try Ungoogled Chromium? It’s Chromium without the Google crap, and it’s updated regularly.
