Is Borland Software Still Relevant for Modern Development? or What Are the Best Alternatives to Borla

LOL @ “floppy disk in 2024.”

But seriously, Borland software has its charms. Turbo Pascal was my first love, and I’ll die on that hill.

For modern equivalents, maybe check out Free Pascal or even Python + PySimpleGUI for quick GUIs.

Wow, didn’t expect so many responses! Super interesting to see the mix of “still using it” and “run for the hills.”

The Lazarus IDE tip is gold—gonna play with that this weekend.

For the Delphi folks: how’s the learning curve if I’m coming from C#? Is it worth diving in, or just stick with what I know?

Also, anyone tried modernizing a Borland project? Like, wrapping it in a new frontend or something? Curious if that’s a viable path.

Thanks all! (And yeah, maybe this *should* be in the legacy dev subforum…)
